Your Place in the Circle

Wisdom grows within circles of women.

Lyrics

1. And the circle's teaching me. Oh, oh.

What’s been blocked for centuries. Oh, oh.

We stretch our hands out and we stare

at the flames arising here.

And now the flames are growing higher.

I take my place around this fire.

And now the flames are growing higher.

I take my place around this fire.

2. And the circle’s healing me. Oh, oh.

I hear a source inside of me. Oh, oh

Like coming to a well,

ringing truth clear as a bell.

And my voice is rising higher.

I take my place around this fire.

And my voice is rising higher.

I take my place around this fire.

3. And the circle’s teaching true. Oh, oh.

We honor every one of you. Oh, oh.

How we help our voices flower.

Our planet needs us in our power.

I dare to lift this lantern higher.

I take my place around this fire.

I dare to lift this lantern higher.

I take my place around this fire.

About this Song:

This was written with gratitude to Anne Yeomans and the women of the Circle. In March, April, and May 2020 Anne gathered women together to learn from each other. We would have been meeting in person. Even though we had to meet online, when Anne said to us, "Take your place around the fire," I felt a reverberation of new possibilities. She was calling us forward to be fully present in that place only we can occupy. Anne offered for reflection, "What does the circle want to teach us today? What is being asked of me now in my life?
