Deep Walking Hope (Universe Story)

Music by Sarah Pirtle © 2017, Discovery Center Music, BMI. Words combine sections by Sarah Pirtle and also include Dr. Emilie Townes’ phrase “deep walking hope,” and portions of Barbara Loot’s poem about the Universe.

Lyrics

Chorus:

Deep walking hope, deep walking hope.

I been to the mountain and I carry the light of deep walking hope.

1. In all the Universe, in all time, you are the only you.

Your light with Earth has combined to do what you can do.

Never again will your footsteps sound,

your strength is the strength that we count on.

Your heart is a heart that can move this world. Let your voice be heard.

Something we can get inside of…something we can walk around in.

Something we can pass to our children. Deep walking hope.

Chorus:

Deep walking hope, deep walking hope.

I been to the mountain and I carry the light of deep walking hope.

2. In all the Universe in all time you are the only you.

Your molecules have combined to do what you can do.

Here is the place where your footsteps sound.

You’re wanted here. Look around. Your heart is a heart in community.

Dare to be who you’re here to be.

Chorus:

Deep walking hope…

About This Song

New focus: Journal on the thought -- in all the Universe in all time, you are the only you. Also experiment with this direction when you are in a conversation. Look at the person with whom you are talking from a fresh perspective. Say to yourself, "They are a part of the Universe who I have never heard from before in this unique way," and feel through this speaker the Universe arising to talk to you.

Workshop idea: See "Teaching The Universe Story" in the section, Using These Songs, for the activity from Miriam MacGillis on identifying the transformative powers of the universe you are calling upon now.
